Keep the one-boxing user-like feed This is how it works at the time of this writing. The RSS feed receives new questions every few minutes (usually around 10-15 minutes it seems), and posts each individual question link as if the feed were a regular chat user: Pros: Easy to get a bird's eye summary of the question which allows for easier handling for ...

Include tags with question The auto-inline feature of answers on Chat does not include the tags of the question that was asked. Can the tags be included before/after the answer?

Chat bot kill switch Give room owners the ability to stop the bot by typing some key phrase. It should then either exit, or at the very least, be quite for a long time. This will allow room owners to limit the damage if a bug causes the bot to go crazy and the bot's owner is not available to take care of things. For a phrase, pick something easy to ...

Register for Pings Allow users to send a chat message in order to register with the bot so that the bot will alert the user when certain posts are made. Example usage: !follow tag:Objective-C -- This would register myself with the bot as following everything posted to the Objective-C tag and the bot should ping me any time a question or answer is posted ...

I have already contacted SE regarding this concern, and this is the exact response I've received from Tim Post, an SE community manager (important points bolded by me): To the extent that it doesn't at all annoy others in chat, we tolerate it. Bots shouldn't send automatic greetings, say inappropriate things (or accept inappropriately named commands) ...

Post meta answers Right now the chat bot only posts answers from the main site, and not meta. It should post answers from both.

This is currently not really "fixable" no. Either the chatbot (known in most other chat rooms simply as "Stack Exchange") informs about all questions, or about no questions. Likewise, it either informs everyone, or no one. The only possible solution to filter questions is to use a different feed which posts only questions in a specific tag for example. ...

Ask a user to send you Captain Obvious's profile link in 2nd Monitor And Click don't ignore this user.

No one-boxing This is less about the content/targets of the feeds and more about the formatting as they appear in chat (especially if multiple are posted in a short time). At the time of this writing, this is what the feeds look like: That is, each one is two posts, like this: RoboSanta: Naruto answer; accepted non-selfie answer with 0 score: ...

Tool vs Toy. I have worked in chat rooms before where a bot was able to provide meaningful service (as well as occasional entertainment value). If this bot is primarily a tool, and not a toy, then I can see a future where it is a valuable contributor to the chat room. In order to qualify as "primarily tool" it has to have functionality that is useful for ...

In your chat-profile, there is a tab "prefs", where you can manage the users you are ignoring, there you can unignore users:

For the timing part, I would like to suggest that Robo Santa posts 2 times a day. This is because some users aren't online 24/7. How about posting on 9:00 UTC and 21:00 UTC ? I wouldn't space them 2 hours apart because it would make it harder to find them.

Do we need it? No. Would it be useful? Perhaps. Is this something we can change as a community? Well, not really, Duga is not the community's code, so we can make requests, and talk about it, and deny access for things we don't like.... but that's about it. If you are not talking about Duga, but something else, then propose a new bot, and run it through ...

From the Chat FAQ: What can we chat about? This site is an extension of The Stack Exchange Network, so discussion should more or less revolve around the same topics you'd find at The Stack Exchange Network — but in an interactive, less strictly Q&A focused way. Do have fun, but please keep it professional and always be respectful of your fellow ...

Auto-star "lol" posts Give Malachi a break that bot some personality, make it automatically star "lol"-only chat posts in The 2nd Monitor. This way we can keep the meme alive, and spare our stars :)

CR register-feed {key} {url} Purpose: registers specified RSS feed url with specified key/identifier, and posts whatever comes up in that feed as a chat message, hopefully with a link. Example: CR register-feed cr-answers http://stack2rss.stackexchange.com/codereview.stackexchange/answers&body=true CR unregister-feed {key} Purpose: forget about ...

Especially in respect to @rolfls definitely correct and useful objections, Malachi and me just came up with a possible solution: Command Types: As mentioned int @rolfls answer some commands are Toys and some are Tools. As a feature-request to the bot, there should be some owner-only (read: mods) command, that sets the bot to allow or disallow calls to the ...

Ban User From Commanding Bot Obvious usage if the user is abusing the bot. Privilege settings keep users from creating too many commands or specifying what users can and cannot tell the bot to do.

There's two different ways to ignore someone in chat: Hide posts Ignore this user (everywhere) The first works using simple Javascript. As soon as you click the button, the messages from the user magically disappear. (This doesn't help in transcript) The hidden messages will appear again, as soon as you reload the chat. The second adds the user to your ...

suggested-improvement Current status: On being unsummoned, the bot currently just vanishes. But the useraccount still remains. Suggestion: Have the bot give a last message, before retreating to his cave, something along the lines of : ByeBye I am back to my cave now. And he should really quit the room, and not just hang around ;)
